There is much debate amongst techies on whether the rumored impending release of an Apple internet tablet/pad will virtually stop the Kindle in its tracks. Some think that if they do release an ipad people will just download the Kindle application available already on other devices, such as iPhones, to supplement the vast array of uses it might come with, making it the ultimate multi-media, must have gadget of our time.

Let’s explore this more.

The Kindle, if you don’t already know, is an e-book reader. It has a wireless connection that allows you to purchase and download books, magazine subscriptions, and newspapers. This is definitely a great gadget for the ravenous readers who can’t get enough of their favorite literature. It eliminates carrying around a bulky book. They can just carry the Kindle and as soon as they are done reading one item they can immediately browse around for their next read and jump into it. They don’t have to wait to make a trip to the book store or wait for their order to be shipped to their home.

These are all notably great things, but does it play your favorite song or movie? Nope. Can you check messages on your Facebook or Twitter account? Nope. Can you map out your next destination right from where you are standing by just typing in a couple words using their Maps application? Nope. More than likely, Apple will create something that will be able to do all that and more.

If that’s not enough, it is speculated that the Kindle application is more than likely going to be available for any ipad devices released by Apple, essentially turning their version of an ipad into an e-book reader in addition to everything else. Another difference to take note of is the price. The Kindle goes for $359 at most places and Apple’s internet tablet is projected to go for upwards of $699. Perhaps that might make or break the deal for some, especially if a prospective Kindle buyer already has an iPhone or iPod Touch they are happy with.

Will Apple kill the Kindle with an ipad? I don’t know. Time will only tell. One thing is for sure; Apple is capable of creating such a device.

We’ve discussed what Apple’s version of an ipad might look like and what it might be able to do once released. Let’s see how this stacks up against the competition. There are a whole slew of people out there in the tech industry who believe Apple’s rendition of an itablet could be one of the best creations ever. If they were to release an ipad of their own, what would they have to do to make this true? The answer is in the competition – netbooks, e-readers and other itablets. They obviously need to surpass what’s already out there.

We’ve already explored the differences between the Amazon Kindle and a possible Apple iPad in another article. We believe if Apple releases an ipad, it will have a larger color screen that you can not only read e-books on, but then you can watch a movie or listen to some music you downloaded. Using the internet is something you’re able to do with a netbook. They are marketed basically as mini pc’s on which you can perform your basic internet searches, do some word processing, use spreadsheets and check emails. Netbooks are more condensed versions of lap tops. Ipads in turn, are more condensed versions of netbooks.

What sets any ipad apart from netbooks is the size for one. Since many of them have either a touch screen keyboard or a QWERTY keyboard that slides in and out, instead of a fixed external one, you’re already saving on space, weight and portability. Many speculate there might be the possibility of cellular use with what Apple might release. Perhaps that could be a feature that sets them apart. How far apart I don’t know, considering many users of ipads presently on the market use programs such as Skype to make internet calls.

As good as Apple’s version of the ipad might sound; there are nay sayers who believe their ipad will be too big to just put in your pocket making it no different than a netbook or lap top if you have to put it in a bag. Also having to type while you hold an ipad might prove to be another challenge depending on how large they do wind up making it. Both sides have valid points, but since the Apple’s internet tablet features are only based on speculation at this point, the true debates will begin once we see a finished product.

If you haven’t figured this out already, what many people don’t realize is that there are ipads already available on the market and have been for several years. Companies such as Nokia and Archos both have their own versions of ipads with many of the multi media bells and whistles anticipated to be on Apple’s version. If all is true and Apple does create their own ipad, we’ll have to wait to see what features they’ll have to surpass any present models on the market.
